Oliver and the playmat

At the end, the suggested videos lists many other videos of Oliver's on their playmats.  I guess I should start referring to him as his new nickname: King Baby.

I live for these little bursts of laughter and smiles.

Another video!

For die-hard Ollie fans only.  It's about 5 minutes of him sleeping and then playing.  The sleeping bit is pretty funny- his face was twitching as he slept in the car seat in the Dr's waiting room last Friday.  The second part is the little dance he does while lying on the sofa.  He's really working those chubby arms and legs.  You can also see that his hair is finally coming back in on top of his head.  Whew.  :)

10 weeks old today...  (sorry for the crazy red-eye in the video, the lighting was kinda bad).

First Day at Day Care

...and I'm at work staying busy so I won't cry.  Well, I cried a little this morning, but we got there and our friends were dropping off their daughter who was just so happy to be there that I was distracted from feeling sad.  Ms. Sal is going to take excellent care of Oliver and they are all just so happy to have a baby (the rest of the kids are 1 yr +).  He'll be well cared for and doted on, which befits his nickname, the Commodore (we don't call him a little prince, even though he kinda is...).

Daddy loves you, too!

I put him in this onesie so that every time someone read it out loud he would be reminded that Mommy Loves Him.  And Daddy, too (Peter came with me for the drop off so he could hug and kiss him before leaving).

We had a wonderful family day yesterday (no projects or major errands, just fun and hanging out) so I could relax a bit and enjoy our time together before the week started.

Peter did his best Mr. T impression with Garanimals links in lieu of a gold chain.  Oliver was only mildly impressed.
I pity the fool that doesn't love Garanimals!

Then we headed to Bar Harbor where we strolled, checked out a toy store and then plopped down on the grass to watch a cruise ship leave and a schooner return. Oliver stretched out (he's stretching in these pictures, not sleeping...

Ahhh.. out of that car seat!

Not enjoying the view... maybe next year...

Sigh... only three more hours until I head to the day care to nurse him at lunch!  :)

Play time!

Oliver can really focus on objects now and he loves staring at interesting objects. The current favorites are: the penguin on his bouncy chair, the zebra we clip to the car seat, the mobile over his crib and the new play mat. The play mat came yesterday and he's quite taken with it. Lots of things to stare at... It's also a new favorite tummy time spot.

We also hang out with him on the changing table and show him toys and read books to him. He loves laying on that table (makes diaper changes more fun since he hardly ever cries).

Next up should be grabbing things and putting them in him mouth. Right now he will "taste" things that get close to his mouth by licking them. His little tongue darts out to check out whatever toy has come close enough...

Every day we are getting more smiles and coos. It's pretty darn awesome. :)
